Jobs

I have too much to do - much of it of my own making I feel but I like to be thorough.
  • Family History (a task which will never get finished)
  • Finish type-setting some piano trios.
  • Organise the school concert.
  • Look into swapping from AB exams to Trinity
  • Put up a web page about Trinity Aural (I have some private pupils doing Grade 6)
  • Sort out the carpentry shop at school (where did the last guy put the drill guard?)
  • Spend Sunday at school (morning church + duty) then take 15 boys to see a film, although I'm going with a really nice colleague!
  • Finish my booklet about choosing an instrument (please don't all request the drum kit)
  • Plan a get-away for Easter (Any offers? Anyone want to spend time with a 51 year old music teacher)
  • Put in an expenses claim
  • Contact the plumber about our bloody central heating
  • Do my accounts (April is approaching)
  • Get birthday card for Sarah
  • Load software on my new laptop (which let me down yesterday having been hooked up to the school network)
  • Read several books suggested by a contact of mine
  • Read the Old Testament (I've done the New, much of it I didn't like)
  • Buy some new shirts
  • Send back a form to the Neighbourhood Watch team leader (do I want to?)
  • Get the car serviced
I could go on but I'm depressed already.

Don't be ill

I phoned my doctor's surgery today for an appointment to review some medication I am on. The next available bookable appointment was on 18th March. Good job I'm not too ill.

Sugar

Is it really 2 weeks since I put up a post? Well, a lot has happened but I cannot remember most of it! Here are the main points.

I have been to school as normal and took a bunch of lads 10 pin bowling last Sunday afternoon (7th); I got 4 strikes - 3 of them in one game - and a total of 141 in the second game.

On Thursday I played the organ for the funeral our Headmaster's son who sadly died after a cardiac arrest aged 20, having had heart problems all his life. Obviously devastated for several days after the shock of his passing, his father then spoke to the school 2 days before the funeral to explain what had happened and say that the family just wanted "quiet support". He did not buckle in the slightest, but gave us all strength by the inspiring way he spoke which was, at the same time, humbling.

I am now on half term.

I have ordered a laptop from Ebuyer with Windows 7.

I sang in an Evensong to mark the 100th birthday of Stanley Vann who was Master of the Music when I was a chorister.

A week ago I gave up having sugar in my tea and coffee and on my Weetabix. I could not justify it any longer. There are health reasons for this too so we'll see how it goes. When will the craving kick in?
