I finally got to speak on the phone to the Area Manager of the company and we have agreed to differ. He put his side and I put mine. He claims they let all the air out of all 4 tyres in order to reinflate them with nitrogen to a pressure of 28psi which is the pressure they were at to start with. So that's three tyres which did not need attending to which were attended to. He says they explained the benefits of nitro inflation to Mrs Saw and she agreed to have all this done.
I am pleased they are refunding me the money - should anyone from the company stumble across this blog - but I fear I shall not be taking my business to them again, at least not in a hurry. If I do I will be quite clear as to what I do want done and what I do not want done.
Perhaps somebody with a legal mind can let me know if I have said anything on this topic I ought not to have said, or at least tell me if I have told the truth in a way which some may not find palatable. [I have removed the company name to be sure!]

A resolution of sorts then... and something else to further enrich your experience.
Steve: That's one way of lookng at it.
I think companies now have to consider the bloggersphere and how if they're not careful reputation can be ruined or made.
I thought you had a valid case. Companies have to realise that neither side does well out of an unsatisfactory transaction. Usually, it's not the customer that comes of worse -it's the company.
Marginalia: I have banked the cheque they sent.
