I had a reply from
the tyre company; they
are going to refund some of my money as a goodwill gesture. The wording of part of their letter made me groan in disbelief.
Consummation - not in front of the children, please! [Click to enlarge]
I am also annoyed - and I will write back - that they regard refunding the inflation of the 3
unaffected tyres as 'goodwill'.

This reply has to be included in any customer relations training.
I bristled at "purely in the interest of maintaining good customer relations" - how begrudging is that!
Clearly their position is not the missionary one!
Goodwill? A proper gesture would have been to say, "OK, you caught us. We were wrong. Here's your money back with X additional as a gesture of penance. Please don't tell people what scumbags we are."
Marginalia: I agree.
David: I hope many people stumble across my blog.
How was it for you, darling?
